St. Louis Election Board rejects deal with Justice Department
Doug Moore | St. Louis Post Dispatch

EXCERPT

The St. Louis Election Board rejected a deal with the Justice Department regarding the 2000 presidential election, saying in order to implement the Department's demands the federal government should give the city money to pay for computer equipment to monitor voting at every precinct. In response, the Justice Department told the Election Board that it will sue the city. The lawsuit will allege that the city violated the rights of voters during the November 2000 election by wrongly turning away hundreds of voters from the polls during that election.
