Given that counterbalance to the view that the frontloading of the primary system is in all ways destructive, it is important to examine the new role African Americans might play in the upcoming primaries. For the first time, many of the states holding early—and thus potentially meaningful—contests have significant African-American populations. This may impact not only the election outcomes, but the substance of the dialogue of the debate in the campaigns.
