Press Release: May 21, 2001 Public Hearing on 'Federal Elections: What Does the Law Require?' to be held in Austin, Texas, May 24th
Building on the success of its first two public hearings (held March 26th at the Carter Center in Atlanta, Georgia and April 12th at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California) the National Commission on Federal Election Reform will hold its third public hearing, with the theme "What Does the Law Require?" at the Lyndon B. Johnson Library in Austin, Texas, on Thursday, May 24th, 2001.
At this hearing, the Commissioners will hear from a number of expert witnesses who will provide their perspectives on the best options for federal election reform, focusing on the legal issues surrounding proposed reforms and their implementation. The hearing will be broadcast live on the world wide web at http://www.reformelections.org beginning at 10:00 a.m., Central Standard Time.
President Gerald Ford will preside as chairman at the fourth and final public hearing of the Commission, where the theme will be �The American and International Experience.� This hearing will be held on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 5th, 2001, at the Ford Library in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
